Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past few years, India has not only sustained but also augmented its upward trend in millet exports during the 2021-2022 period.

This remarkable achievement saw the country reach an unprecedented milestone, with millet exports attaining an all-time high, surpassing the US $62.95 million mark. Continuing this positive momentum into the fiscal year 2022-2023, India demonstrated continued excellence in the export of millet and millet-related products.

During this period, a substantial quality of 169,049.11 metric tons, valued at 608.12 crores (which is equivalent to $75.45 million), was successfully shipped. This further solidified India’s position as a key player in the global millet market and highlighted the resilience of its agriculture export sector despite the ongoing pandemic challenges. So, most of the exports happening to other countries from India are Nepal (51.1%), United Arab Emirates (23.3%), and Libya (7.7%) are the top three importers of millets from India.
